2020 Junior Season Start Date 27 June

Canterbury Hockey has confirmed a revised plan for the 2020 junior hockey competitions starting 27 June. The structure of these competitions is subject to club/school feedback. If for any reason a club/school is not able to field teams by the starting date outlined below, Canterbury Hockey will ensure alternative solutions are provided. Key Dates/Information are below

Just Hockey Supporting Grassroots New Zealand Hockey

Just Hockey Promotion - LEVEL UP promo with some amazing deals on at the moment. We are also offering all our MVP customers double MVP Points until 01 November 2020. Just Hockey are also donating a percentage of every hockey item sold to the Hockey Foundation to help the grassroots of hockey here in New Zealand.

Contact Tracing app to be used on CHA turfs

Contract tracing Canterbury Hockey will implement iDME as our touch free contact register at all facilities and buildings. As per guidance issued by the MOH participant details will be kept for four weeks and the information collected may only be used for the purpose of contact tracing at the request of the MOH or local district health boards.

Hockey NZ COVID update 3 May

Hockey NZ COVID-19 Update Any return to hockey will be governed by the government alert levels. We are working closely with Sport NZ to gain clarity on what each of the alert levels represents for sport and recreation and hope to have more detailed information regarding alert level 2 next week. Refer to the Sport New Zealand Activities Level 1-4 diagram.

REQUEST for Members to review and update Details in Database

Please can everyone check their details are up-to-date including Emergency contacts, school year levels and School names. CHA have introduced a new database called Sportlomo which requires us to register our players on the Canterbury hockey database.

CHA participant survey.  CHA Have thanked everyone for the support and input so far to the CHA participant, club and school survey. CHA are following a similar process to other Association’s and across other codes and this will provide valuable input into the appetite and expectations of our hockey community moving forward. CHA were overwhelmed to receive over 1,000 responses in the first 48 hours of the participant survey which created technical glitches with the Survey Monkey platform!

URGENT - HOCKEY NZ COVID19 ANNOUNCEMENT - HOCKEY POSTPONEMENT

Carlton Redcliffs Hockey Club confirms that today Hockey NZ "announced that all club, school and community hockey will be postponed until Saturday 2 May, effective Thursday 19 March." We will be communicating over the coming weeks to keep our players, coaches and managers informed and updated with the hope that we will be back on the pitch soon.  On behalf of our club, we appreciate your support and extend our own best wishes and support to you and your loved ones during these dynamic times.

Reddos generosity to Christchurch Muslim Community from 2019 Academy families

As Canterbury and the country approach the 15th of March anniversary we would like to reflect and acknowledge the tragedy that occurred a year ago. At that time Carlton Redcliffs made the decision to cancel the final session of the Junior Hockey Academy. Carlton Redcliffs Hockey Club would like to acknowledge the kindness and generosity of the 2019 Academy families and participants who donated their payments to the Canterbury Muslim Community Trust. Premier Women's team announced for 2020

Premier Women's team for 2020. We are pleased to announce the CPL Women's team for 2020. The Reindeer are the defending CPL Champions, Porritt Cup Champions, current holders of the Rosebowl and Challenge Shield, and come into the season on the back of 17 wins from 17 matches in 2019.

CHA Coaching Workshop information

There are a number of Coaching Courses that Canterbury Hockey are running during this Pre season and early season three months and we are keen for any of you that can get along to a course to do this, and have opportunity to learn and keep up to date with the current approach to our game. Carlton Redcliffs has always supported our Coaches to attend these and also Umpiring courses that come up from time to time by paying any costs that are required for you to attend.

Masters Results - Mens 40s in the Gold

Over the past week many of our Reddos members have been playing at the National Masters Tournament held in Canterbury.  As previously reported there were many Reddos in action on the turf. Congratulations to the Canterbury Mens 40s Dean Munt, Caleb Ballin, Andy Barlow and Simon Lind who won their final for the Gold.

Goalkeepers in action training over Summer with George

On a hot Canterbury day in January, our George Enersen worked with several of our Senior and Intermediate Goal Keepers.  Holly Smith reports back on her experience   I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to do some training with George Enerson, the men's black sticks goalie.  We learnt loads of new skills.
