At their meeting the Competitions Committee considered what could be done to improve the club & team aspects around our Saturday playing of CPL & Div 1. Their work is noted below & attached:
In response to feedback received across many areas of the hockey community and as indicated a couple of weeks ago when we reviewed the Porritt Cup CPL draw, we have taken the opportunity to review and realign the CPL/Div 1 competition for round 2. This wasn’t a quick decision that we have made as our attention has always been to publish a draw where possible in its entirety as early as practical in the season as this allows the community to better prepare for the season of hockey. However there were many instances where it wasn’t working in a practical sense for you the greater hockey community.
As you will be aware we cannot complete the 13th July matchups until the Porritt Cup round is completed.
However we think you will appreciate the changes we have made as there are many benefits to the entire community.
- All four teams in one club will play at the same venue
- No clashes so ease of filing in for the higher team without matches being back to back or having to travel to a different venue
- Coaches / Managers able to be coach / manage multiple teams without travel
- People able to coach and play without travel
- Mini club days creating club atmosphere
- Spectators not having to choose one team//venue over another
The change does come at a cost – most people may now struggle to stay away from a full day/afternoon of hockey so housework and chores might need to take a back seat.
Please read the draw carefully and notify your teams of the changes to times and venues, we will endeavour to get it on the website as soon as practical but thought it was important to get the changes out to you as soon as we could.
