Canterbury has a proud tradition of being one of the only places left in the country playing grass hockey and we want to keep the Grass grade going by creating a mixed club fourth team in both the men's and women's grades.
The grass competition is a very social, yet competitive, grade, played on Saturday afternoons at various grass fields around Christchurch.
Hockey was originally played on Grass and the first Artificial turf in Christchurch was not laid until 1986 and many games were still played on grass until the mid-90's.
