Mid Week Open 2022
All are welcome to the Clubs Inaugural Mid Week Open Muster on Monday 14th March 7pm at Nga Puna Wai 1. CLICK HERE to register now on our website to show your interest for MWO.
The Club would like to invite all players old and new, youth and mature, competitive or social, to register your interest for the Mid-Week Open Grade for the 2022 Season. If you aren't able to attend, please still complete the registration form but answer"No" to "Are you attending this event".
The mid week open grade is fast becoming a fantastic competitive option for players who love playing hockey, keen to commit to play mid week, enjoy an enthusiastic and encouraging playing environment without the commitment of trainings, yet still have a competitive edge.
MWO has over the years been a social grade and we still want to create the opportunity for this alongside offering to meet the need and growing interest, from a range of ages and experience, speed and skill level, the Mid Week Open space is shifting to offer a more competitive option and this will depend on interest and numbers.
The Club is focus is to build the leadership and coaching support in the Mid Week open space and has scheduled a MWO muster evening for all interested players.
An evening at the turf on Monday 14th March run by Pat Barwick, Chris Goldsbury and other senior players, will provide a coordinated trial and selection process, considering the availability and interest of all players. Please register so we can see your interest.
The club is keen to put energy and leadership into developing the MWO grade. We would love to hear from people who have an interest in the following roles: coaching, player coach. Manager or a Co-ordination role to oversee the 2 women’s teams and 1 men’s team. Please email reddos.secretary@gmail.com if you would like to offer your interest to help.

In 2021 we had 2 women's teams and 1 men's team. Men play on a Monday night and Women play on a Tuesday night. These teams do not have a practice.
Year 11 and above are able to play in MId Week Open teams. CHA Rules state "Year 9 and 10 players cannot be registered in this division; furthermore, Year 9 players cannot play in this division."
Canterbury Hockey has advised that a My Vaccine Pass’ will be required for the entire Canterbury Hockey Community (coaches, players, spectators etc.) over the age of 12 years and 3 months old (as per the government framework).
