Presidents Update

Club Day 2 July – Be there!
On 2 July we will be holding a Club day at Ngā Puna Wai (details to follow). We would like as many of our Club there as possible to watch out CPL and Div 1 teams (all currently top of the table!) and meet a few of the 1992 Champion Carlton Redcliffs Mens Team who are having a reunion on the same day. To mark the occasion our CPL Men’s team have a new Heritage Kit (that doubles as their Alternative strip) that matches the 1992 uniform which they will wear for the CHA Heritage round.

Also stand by for a senior social ( dressup) planned for 6 August at a sponsors venue– so save the date!

A few highlights for the season thus far:
New to Junior Club Hockey- This season we have 39 new to hockey players join our great club!!!
In 2022 we had planned to introduce a “Reddo in schools” project to encourage more Junior players to play hockey and join our club.  This was only possible because of the mahi done by our amazing Treasurer Jonathon Davis who has been doing the foundation work to apply successfully for grants and work with our sponsors to fund our various projects and gear needs.  The Omicron outbreak meant we had to “pivot” and change plans to  Plan B which was to offer a “New to Junior Club Hockey” pack from Just Hockey (A Reddo Sponsor) and sub discount. 

More Teams – This season we are 17% up on player numbers and have 3 more Junior teams.  We have been delighted to increase our senior teams for 22’ including welcoming back some past Reddos who are entering a different playing phase of their hockey careers:) 

A big thanks to our People
We realise what a depth and breadth of experienced people we have in our (not especially large) Club of the members who are prepared to share their skills and knowledge coaching and supporting.  Thank you to everyone who contributes, it just isn’t possible without the volunteers who are exemplified by people like Pat Barwick, who was recognised with one of the highest honours (the Pakistan Trophy) at the recent national NZ Hockey awards.

In the background the people who volunteer their time and skills aka “The Club” have been meeting regularly since February to plan and get things up and going for teams and "the season".  The committee meet monthly (feel free to join us) and we will share more on the additional projects (like Club days), as well as on tasks requested from CHA in the future.

Some of our Div 1 Women will be turfside with some Junior teams this weekend, and keep an eye out in future weekends at Junior games for our CPL Men and Women who will be going along to encourage Junior teams.

Club Day July 2nd - Come down and join us for our Club day and to celebrate wtih our 1992 CPL Men's Premier team who will be having a reunion.  Our CPL Men and Women will be going retro and wearing an old strip.  This is will be a precursor as CHA are holding a "Heritage weekend" 23rd July where all the clubs will be getting into the spirit of it all.
