Reddos generosity to Christchurch Muslim Community from 2019 Academy families

Published Fri 13 Mar 2020

As Canterbury and the country approach the 15th of March anniversary we would like to reflect and acknowledge the tragedy that occurred a year ago. At that time in 2019 Carlton Redcliffs made the decision to cancel the final session of the Junior Hockey Academy, which was scheduled for the day after the mosque shootings. Carlton Redcliffs Hockey Club would like to acknowledge the kindness and generosity of the 2019 Academy families and participants who donated their final Academy session payment. Our club donated the money on their behalf to the Canterbury Muslim Community Trust. Please find below the Trust’s message of thanks to us all.

Thank you all so much for your very generous donation to our community. The support and aroha we have received from people like you in the aftermath of this tragedy has been truly overwhelming, we really appreciate it. All donated funds are now being used directly in the Christchurch Muslim community to support community development projects including youth sport, support for widows and other bereaved families, educational scholarships and camps for affected children, among others. Your donation will definitely be put to good use. Please pass on our thanks to everyone in your club
