MATCH REPORTS
Women's MWO Div1 White v HSOB (3 - 2 victory)
It was a game for the spectators on Tuesday evening as the MWO Div 1 Women powered out a 3-2 victory over top-of-the-league HSOB, edging themselves closer to the top spot. It was hard fought from the whistle but the girls were committed and held their nerve, playing with urgency and patience throughout the first half (and most of the second!!).
The first goal went to Claudia, who finished off a sublime baseline dribble and reverse pass by Meredith to tap the ball into the goal.
The second goal, which started with a visionary pass on the 25 from Meredith out wide to Jen on the left, was deftly crossed to the dot and then deflected by Stubbsie (I think?!) into the top corner of the goal. It can only be described as a complete rip-snorter, and definitely one for the team’s record books.
In an exciting display of speed and agility Stubbsie was on fire up front throughout the game, generating some very creative connections with the other forwards. The teamwork paid off when she slotted the ball into the left corner from the right baseline..... a super complex goal made to look easy!
On defence the team showed superb commitment with some great clearances and distribution by Lulu and Paula. Kirsten’s legendary attacking goal keeping kept HSOB to only two goals, despite their best efforts to score. A big thanks to the awesome twosome Claudia and Georgie whose youth and dynamism up field was a joy to behold. It was a very satisfying victory, with lots of fist bumping at full time!
MWO Men Monday Night V HSOB (Lost 4-1)
HSOB were always in control but we had our chances and were unlucky not to score a couple more.
